Crossville-Cumberland County Visitor Center, Gateway to the Big South Fork, is located at 176 River Otter Drive, adjacent to I-40 (Use Exit 320 and then turn on Cook Road). Each year the Center welcomes thousands of travelers, especially during the peak tourist season which runs from April through October. We have welcomed visitors from all 50 states and numerous countries from around the world.
Funded by the City of Crossville and Cumberland County and operated by the Chamber of Commerce and the National Park Service, the Visitor Center features information on local and regional places to eat, shop and stay, as well as a diorama of indigenous fish and numerous examples of wildlife in the area. You can also pick up items at the gift shop that are unique to our area.
VISITORS CENTER PROGRAMS
The Crossville-Cumberland County Visitor Center also promotes programs on a variety of local subjects. We partner with the Big South Fork and the Obed Wild and Scenic National Parks on these events. These informative programs help educate attendees on the local animals and areas. Some of the previous popular hot topics in depth looks at indigenous owls, bears and eagles, an Introduction to The Big South Fork River & National Recreation Area” and the youth-oriented “Be a Jr. Ranger” program. Also, in partnership with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA), there are opportunities to see live Tennessee critters and to learn more about rock climbing, caving and other activities that are popular on Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau.
